A Quarter Century PGA member, Hugh Reilly brings decades of golf operations, instruction, and player development experience to Northampton Valley Country Club as Head Golf Professional. Throughout his career, Hugh has been dedicated to creating outstanding golf experiences for members and guests while building successful instructional programs, tournaments, junior initiatives, and practice facilities focused on growing the game of golf.
Since 1985, more than 10,000 junior golfers have participated in Hugh’s camps and clinics. Known for his energetic and encouraging teaching style, Hugh has helped generations of young players develop not only their golf skills, but also confidence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for the game. His junior programs emphasize a fun, positive atmosphere while maintaining a strong foundation in fundamentals and player development.
In addition to his junior golf accomplishments, Hugh has extensive experience teaching private lessons to golfers of all ages and skill levels. For the last four years, Hugh served as Director of Instruction at X-Golf/Parformance Indoor Golf Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania, where he taught using advanced video analysis and FlightScope launch monitor technology. He is excited to return to a green grass facility and join the team at Northampton Valley.
A PGA Professional since 1992, Hugh has won dozens of junior, high school, college, amateur, and professional tournaments throughout his playing career, including the 2011 Haverford Trust Golf Classic with a course record 7-under-par 65. After playing collegiate golf at Villanova University, Hugh competed on mini tours in Florida before joining the Philadelphia PGA Section, where he continues to maintain an active competitive schedule.

Matt Carey
Matt is a PGA Associate who started here at NVCC as the Assistant Professional in August 2024. He recently graduated from McDaniel College in 2024 with a major in kinesiology and minor in coaching. Matt has a passion for teaching and looks forward to building the junior golf program here at NVCC. Matt is working through the PGA coursework and looks forward to full membership in the near future, he also is very invested in the exercise element of golf and is looking to be TPI certified. Matt is also Villa Joseph Marie’s high school head golf coach, his passion for golf shines through in his coaching through creating a team like atmosphere in a traditionally individual sport.

My journey in golf started at the young age of 14 as a caddie at Springdale Country Club in Princeton, NJ where I realized my desire to become a golf tour professional. In pursuit of this goal, I worked at the Weldemere Resort in the Catskills as a both a assistant and student to the golf pro who honed my golf playing skills. From 1968 to ’71 served as Club Tour Professional at both Rolling Hills CC and Normandy Shores GC in Ft. Lauderdale and North Miami Beach Florida. In 1983 opened and developed a unique chain of 8 golf stores with driving ranges called ‘Caddie Shoppe’ the first being in Bensalem, PA. The stores were so unique that, in our first year of business, we were awarded Golf Digests annual award as the Top 100 Golf Store in the country. Today’s golf chains are patterned after the Caddie Shoppe.
