Ringing in the New Year not only means new celebrations and new beginnings, but it also means new wedding trends. In the year 2017 we saw it all. The 2017 weddings brought neutral colors, guest entertainment, and strict coordination of color themes. Although we all loved to see these trends, it’s time to say goodbye to the old and hello to new.
The first trend that we see coming in 2018 is the use of gold accents. We began to see this towards the end of 2017 and absolutely loved it, but this is becoming bigger than we ever expected. The use of gold accents can be used with any color theme and works to tie together the whole event nicely. The gold accent adds a level of elegance, which is perhaps why it is being used so frequently within the weddings we see. The use of gold accents is making it easier for brides to not have to stick to a strict coordination of colors, which leads us into our next trend: mismatching.
The past couple years we saw the trend of weddings have a strict one color theme, however, 2018 weddings are changing the game. Whether it is with décor or bridesmaid dresses, 2018 weddings are starting to loosen up when it comes to matching. Instead, these weddings are mismatching on purpose to make it easier on the bride and grooms, but also give off a vibe of an intentional flow of colors. This is becoming extremely popular for bridesmaid dresses since large bridal parties are more common today. These bridal parties have women of all ages and shapes, so having the bridesmaids pick from a wide color range and what they feel most comfortable is becoming a common trend. Many brides are realizing that they rather make it easier on themselves, as well as their wedding party. This also strays away from the trend of neutral color tones, since mismatching is typically done starting with a bright tone which transitions into a light tone.
The final trend we are seeing is guest entertainment. Although this has been a trend for many years, we are now beginning to see it evolve in 2018. Brides and grooms are trying to be more creative and think outside the box to provide guests with new unique experiences. Instead of photo booths, we are now seeing the phenomena of mirror booths. These booths are floor length mirrors that are touch screen cameras, as well as being completely interactive. Another form of entertainment brides and grooms are choosing is different types of specialty food stations. Whether it is mac & cheese stations, cheesesteak stations, or donut bars, guests love this unique and delicious trend!
All of these new wedding trends are a creating an unforgettable atmosphere for guests, as well as for the bride and groom. It is just the beginning of 2018 and we already love the trends that we have seen thus far. We are intrigued and excited to see what trends our future weddings will bring!
