Is Having An Uneven Wedding Party Okay?

If you have either been in or at a wedding, you have probably noticed how the wedding party (the number of groomsmen and bridesmaids) is typically equal.

On the other hand, you may have also been to a wedding where there was an uneven party…

What is the norm? Is it okay to have an uneven wedding party?

Well, the answer is “yes.” While having an even wedding party appears to be a tradition, it isn’t. In fact, most of the time brides push for it to because they are worried about their pictures appearing lopsided, or what people will think of her or her husband-to-be.

But, Your Wedding Photos DO NOT have to “line up!”

As a Bucks County country club that has hosted many wedding receptions, we have seen couples with both even and uneven wedding parties. So, take it from us, having an uneven wedding party will not mess up your photos. What’s more, most professional photographers will know how to make your photos still look great and beautiful regardless of how small or big your wedding party is.

Groomsmen and bridesmaids DO NOT have to walk back in pairs.

Most of the time the groom, his best man, and the groomsmen are already up at the altar waiting for the bride and her bridesmaids. But, if you are worried about how it will look when they leave the altar you simply do not have to be. It is not uncommon for those with uneven wedding parties to have two bridesmaids walking back with one groomsman, or vice versa.

In the end, no one will be worried about the amount of people that will be in your wedding party. All of your guests’ eyes will likely be on you and your husband-to-be! However, if you are still worried about what people will think, you can have just your maid of honor and the best man standing up at the altar, and the rest of the party sitting down.
